Sharing the Vision

For today's installment, we're going back...way back to the very first meeting that Denver United Church held.  On July 13, 2008, friends and family attended the Vision Meeting.  This was Pastor Rob Brendle's first real chance to share the vision of Denver United with all those who were interested in learning more about this new adventure.  Pastors Rob, Justin and  Andrew shared what God had been placing in their hearts about Denver and the new church, and Mauri Brendle shared her heart for the women and children of Denver.  The meeting was originally scheduled to be held at Rob's house, but the number of RSVP's soon showed the interest was greater than originally imagined.  So, it was moved to the High Forest Ranch Lodge, where we still saw a full house.  From day one, it was evident that God was doing something exciting, and many were willing to consider being a part of the journey.

Out of the Basement?

From August to October 2008, the Launch Team of Denver United Church met in a basement on the north side of Colorado Springs.  Vision was planted into the hearts of the team by Pastor Rob Brendle, who started to define the values, heart and mission of the church.  And the team quickly began to live out the four core values -- communion, community, comission and consecration.  United Kids was launched by Mauri Brendle and Gaby Spicer, and soon came to overtake many of the rooms in Pastor Rob's house.  Children's ministry was off to a booming start! By October, though sentimental about the wonderful experiences of the basement season, everyone was excited to head to Denver and see what God had in store for the next step ahead of them.  To remember these early days, everyone was bequethed the coveted "Out of the Basement" t-shirt.  For those who would like to take a sentimental trip (or see what they missed), here is a collection of photos from the basement.  Enjoy!
